Both these authors used Friedman’s empiricist view to promote changes in the Italian economic thought: di Fenizio supported the Keynesian revolution and Graziani tried to overcome the traditional and deductivistic approach to economic problems. The analysis points out two results: on the one hand, the epistemological discussions emerge in periods of theoretical transition, and, on the other hand, it is possible to consider in a different way the significance of Friedman’s instrumentalism.
