In particular, the analysis centers around the conditions that helped the discipline to reach an astonishing success between 1880 and 1910, but also prevented it from becoming permanent part of the social science curriculum. Sociology’s failure to become academically significant in those years (a situation partially solved in the 1920s and ultimately worked out after WW II) is a crucial element to be considered when investigating the (quantitative and\or qualitative) characteristics of the textbooks of the time Classification-JEL: B10 Keywords: Storia della sociologia italiana; manuali (History of Italian sociology; textbooks) Journal: Il Pensiero Economico Italiano Pages: 213-223 Volume: 14 Issue: 1 Year: 2006 File-URL: https://www.libraweb.net/articoli.php?chiave=200606301&rivista=63 Handle: RePEc:pei:journl:v:14:y:2006:1:11:p:213-223
