The Italian works analysed crucial topics of Marx’s theory and highlighted a thorough knowledge of the texts, whereas an out-and-out Spanish debate on Marx never occurred. However, such a result can be regarded a predictable consequence of the material conditions under which the Spanish analysis of Marx took place. Conversely, it highlights the substance and the exceptionality of the Italian debate, thus putting in perspective the primary critical conclusions regarding Marx’s reception in Italy.
